Traffic Trailblazers - Group 5
The demand for s’mores is high. Now figure out the demand for traffic!
Teams in Group 5 will head up to the Transportation Computer lab to compete in the computer and written portion of the competition.  No spectators will be allowed for this competition.

Bring the following for your competition:
  • ITE Trip Generation Handbook 
  • 3 single sided 8.5”x11” note pages 
  • Scratch paper 
  • Calculators (maximum 3)
  • Writing Instruments
Traffic Trailblazers will occur in 2 phases. The order of these phases will be determined when you arrive.

Phase A: Trip Generation.  Check the Trip Gen example file for a sample problem. Note that the actual competition will involve more than one site

Phase B: HCS Signal optimization.  The only modifications to the file are to be made to the input fields in the Phasing and Timing sections. Using HCS optimization will not be permitted.  The goal is to reduce both the total overall delay and the maximum movement level delay.

Reinforcement Rodeo - Kennesaw State University
This ain’t your first rodeo. Wrangle concrete and steel together.
After the beams are tested, teams will be asked to calculate their post-test available load with tested strength and dimensions.

Teams may bring one (1) sheet of notes and two (2) calculators. Teams have a maximum of ten (10) minutes to complete calculations on engineering paper.

Spirit: Tug of War - Game 2 (Qualifers)
A good ol’ rope pull is always a good time at Lake Wauburg on March 3. Each University may participate with (1) team of 6 participants and 2 substitutes. Each team must have two females on the rope. Teams will be placed in a single elimination tournament. The flag will be attached to the middle of the rope and two cones will be placed 15ft away from the flag.  The competition will start by referee’s signal. The team that pulls the flag beyond the cones will advance. Rope must go underneath one arm.

Safety Disqualifications
  • Lowering elbow below the knee during a pull
  • Pulling the rope over the shoulders during a pull
  • Kicking and sitting on the ground
  • Wrapping the rope
  • “Climbing the rope” or moving up the rope
  • Gloves, cleats, jewelry or any items which may be caught on the rope

Group 2: Horseshoe Hoedown Qualifying Round
Yeehaw! Tie up your Ponies because it is time to toss some concrete horseshoes.

Bring your 3 Concrete Horseshoes to your bracketed time. Listen to the loudspeakers for additional information.

Winners of Group 2 will have the opportunity to replace number of points score with higher points scored during Round 4.

Groups eliminated during this round will  be ranked 9th through 24th place determined by points scored.

Teams must bring their boards to the competition.

Alternative team for Group 3 will be determined by the winners of  Group 1. Returning teams in Group 1 have the opportunity to replace number of points score with higher points scored during this round.

Groups eliminated during this round will  be ranked 9th through 24th place determined by points scored.
